Disconnect ManyChat from Facebook
Facebook holds two separate connections, in two separate places: a business integration on your profile, and a connected app on your Page. Clearing the first doesn’t clear the second, and the second is the one that decides which app may act on your conversations.
Before you begin
- Admin access to the Facebook profile the Instagram account sits under
- Admin access to the Facebook Page it is linked to
Remove the ManyChat business integration
Section titled “Remove the ManyChat business integration”Start on your personal profile. On facebook.com, open the profile menu at the top-right, then Settings & privacy → Settings. In the left column, under Your activity, choose Business integrations. The Active tab lists every app connected to your account — click Remove next to Manychat, confirm, then Done.
Ours is on that list too, as LinktoDM or as Salesmorph — both are us. Remove only Manychat and leave ours alone.
Facebook offers to notify ManyChat that you removed it. Whether you tick that makes no difference to the connection itself.
Strip ManyChat’s control on your Page
Section titled “Strip ManyChat’s control on your Page”Business integrations is a permission you granted from your profile; Connected Apps is what currently has messaging access to the Page. This is the list that still holds ManyChat after everything else looks clean.
- On facebook.com, open the profile menu top-right and switch into your Page profile. These settings don’t exist on your personal profile.
- Go to Settings & privacy → Settings, then Page setup in the left column.
- Scroll down to Advanced messaging — manage your advanced messaging settings — and open it.
- Connected Apps lists every app with messaging access, each with its App ID and an Edit button: The following apps are currently connected to your Page.
Read the list. Anything with -IG after its name is an Instagram messaging
app, and each one you don’t recognise is a candidate for the app that’s holding
your conversations — Manychat-IG here, but also any trial you signed up for and
forgot.
Removing the business integration above usually clears ManyChat’s row from this list on its own, though it can take a few minutes to catch up. So check here after you’ve done that step, not before.
If Manychat-IG is still listed, there’s no Remove button on this screen —
what you can do instead is take away its ability to seize your conversations.
Click Edit next to it. The dialog has two toggles under Messenger
permissions and the same two again under Instagram permissions:

Switch Take control of conversations off in both halves, then Save. That’s the toggle that decides who owns a thread — left on, ManyChat can reclaim conversations after you’ve moved.
Do the same for any other -IG app you’re not using. You’ll come back to this
screen later to confirm LinktoDM’s are switched on, which is the same dialog
read the other way round.
Clear ManyChat as the default routing app
Section titled “Clear ManyChat as the default routing app”The default routing app decides which app receives and replies to your messages, and it’s the setting most migrations never touch — everything else can be correct while your Page still routes conversations somewhere else.
From the same Page setup screen, open Instagram conversation routing (and Messenger conversation routing if you automate your Facebook Page too). Look at Default routing app — the app that will receive and reply to messages by default.
If ManyChat is named there, clear it: click the ··· menu and choose Remove. You’ll set LinktoDM in its place once it’s connected, from this same menu’s Edit.
Routing paths below it can stay empty — No routing paths is the normal state, and those are for directing specific messaging links or ad campaigns to different apps.
You should now have
ManyChat removed from your Facebook profile’s business integrations, stripped of control on your Page’s Connected Apps list, and no longer your Page’s default routing app. Nothing is holding the account.
