Chat Automation Templates

Updated

Three of the thirteen templates on the Basic tab of the template gallery are chat automations. Between them they cover the three jobs an inbox script usually does: answer everyone, collect details, and sell something.

Open them from + New automation → Browse templates, on the Basic tab — each card is labelled Chat automation at the foot.

Reply automatically when someone sends you a direct message with specific keywords. — Popular

One trigger, one message. The simplest script the editor can hold

What it arrives with — the keyword Hello and a single step: Thanks for reaching out!. How can we assist you today? at 54 of 590 characters. No choices, no collect field.

What to change. Two decisions, both above the message:

  • The keyword. Hello only catches people who open with a greeting. Either swap it for the word your bio actually tells people to send, or open the gear settings and switch Any word on so it answers every incoming DM — which is what “respond to all your DMs” implies, and isn’t how the template ships.
  • The dead end. The message asks a question the script has no way to answer. Add choices so the reply routes somewhere, or accept that this one is an acknowledgement that buys you time to reply yourself.

Reply to incoming DM’s leads and guide them to submit their email or phone number.

Three questions, three collect fields, one closing confirmation

What it arrives with — the keyword connect and an alternating script: a message, then a collect field, three times over.

  1. Just drop email, and I’ll send all the good stuff straight to your inbox!Email field
  2. What’s your contact number?Phone field
  3. What’s your name? → a free-text field, then a closing Thank you for providing contact details, We will connect soon.

Everything it captures lands in Contacts.

What to change. Mainly: cut a question. Three prompts in a row is an interrogation, and every one of them is somewhere the person can stop replying. Unless you genuinely call leads, delete the phone step with the trash icon beside its field and keep the email.

Then rewrite the first message so it says what they get. “Drop your email and I’ll send the pricing guide” converts; “all the good stuff” doesn’t.

List products or services and guide users to purchase them directly from your DMs.

The template supplies the menu; the branches behind each button are yours to write

What it arrives with — the keyword Hello, the greeting Hey! We’re so excited to have you here! How can I help you?, and two choices: Get expert tips and Discover products.

What to change. The branches are empty — Type message for “Get expert tips” is a placeholder, and an empty branch is a Required field that blocks publishing. So this template is a shape rather than a finished automation, and the work is writing the two paths behind the buttons.

Rename the choices to your actual categories while you’re there. Discover products is a placeholder; See the pricing and Book a call are decisions someone can make.

None of the three is much work to reproduce — Create a chat automation walks the editor end to end, and choices and collect fields covers the two parts that do the real work.
