Before you begin

• An Instagram account connected to LinkToDM
• A published post or reel for the automation to watch
• The DM you want to send: text, or an image with buttons

Step 1: Go to the Dashboard

After logging in, you’ll land on the LinkToDM dashboard. This is your main control panel.

Step 2: Open Automations

Automations is the first item in the left sidebar, and it lists everything you already have running. Above the list, All / Basic / Flow filter what you are looking at.

Step 3: Create a Post Automation

Click + New automation. The dialog offers three quick automations:

• Post automation: replies when someone comments on a post or reel
• Story automation: replies to story replies and reactions
• Chat automation: replies to keywords sent in DMs

Below those sit the advanced options — Flow builder and AI assisted flow builder — plus a conversation starter and ready-made templates.

Step 4: Configure Your Automation

You’ll now walk through a few quick setup steps:

• Select Post or Reel: Choose the content you want this automation to apply to. You’ll see three options:
  • Apply to All Posts and Reels: The automation will trigger on any post or reel, automatically.
  • Apply to Next Post or Reel: Schedule the automation for your next piece of content.
  • Apply to a Current Post or Reel: Pick an existing post or reel.
• Set Trigger: Choose whether it should trigger on any comment or specific keywords
• Set Auto Reply: You can write a manual response or use LinkToDM’s AI to auto-generate replies.
• Choose DM Type:
  • Message Template: standard text DM
  • Button Image: image with CTA buttons (up to 10 buttons)
  • Button Text: text with clickable button options
• Enable Ask to Follow (Optional): Only send DMs if the user follows you.
• Enable Backtrack (Optional): Automatically reply to missed comments from the past 7 days.
