If you searched for one of these tools and landed on the other, you are not the first. LinktoDM and LinkDM are two separate products, made by two separate companies, and the names are close enough that people mix them up every week.
This page exists to clear that up properly. No drama, no accusations, just the facts about both tools, with links so you can verify everything yourself instead of taking our word for it.
The short answer
LinktoDM and LinkDM are both Instagram DM automation tools. Both run on Meta's official Graph API. Both are Meta Business Partners. Both offer comment to DM automation and both have a free plan.
Apart from the name, though, the products are different. The setup workflow is different, the feature set is different, the pricing model is different, and the companies behind them are different.
About the name similarity (and the "copycat" claim)
You may have come across a page on LinkDM's website that describes LinktoDM as a clone that copies their features and name. We understand why a similar name is frustrating for them. If the situation were reversed we would probably feel the same way.
So let's address it directly instead of pretending it does not exist.
Our name. "Link to DM" describes what the product does: it delivers links through DMs. That is the same reason several tools in this category have "DM" in the name (InstantDM, dmly, UnlockDM, IGdm and others). We did not pick the name to ride on anyone's brand, and we have no interest in customers who signed up thinking we were someone else. Those customers churn, and churn is expensive.
The features. Comment to DM automation, story reply automation, link delivery and click tracking are not features any single company invented. They are the standard feature set of the whole category. ManyChat, Chatfuel, and a dozen other tools offer them. The Instagram Graph API exposes these capabilities to every approved developer, and every approved developer builds on top of them.
The companies. LinktoDM is built and operated by SpectralHelix Technolabs LLP, registered in Kerala, India. LinkDM is a separate product from a separate company. There is no shared ownership, code, team or infrastructure between the two.
What we can control is being transparent about who we are, so nobody signs up for us by mistake. That is what the rest of this page is for.
How to tell which tool you are using
Before you connect your Instagram account to anything, take ten seconds to check where you are. This matters because DM tools get access to your inbox, your automations and your lead data, and you should always know exactly which company you are trusting with that.
- Check the domain. LinktoDM lives only at linktodm.com. If the address bar shows anything else, you are not on LinktoDM.
- Check the company name. Our terms, privacy policy and invoices name SpectralHelix Technolabs LLP. LinkDM's legal pages name their own company.
- Check the Meta permission screen. When you connect Instagram through the official API, Meta shows you the name of the app requesting access. Read it. If it does not say LinktoDM, cancel and go to linktodm.com directly.
- Check the workflow. If you see a choice between a simple Comment to DM automation and a visual Flow Builder (with an AI assisted option), that is LinktoDM. If you are looking at a keyword box with a single DM reply and a list of placements, that is LinkDM.
- Check the dashboard. This is what LinktoDM looks like once you log in. If your screen does not look like this, you are somewhere else.

What is actually different
Here is the part that matters for your decision. Once you set the names aside, these are two products with different philosophies.
Setup workflow
LinkDM uses what it calls Universal Triggers. You enter a keyword, write the DM that should be sent, and choose where it applies (posts, reels, stories, ads, inbox, live). If a post has its own rule it is checked first, then the universal trigger, then a fallback. It is fast to set up and easy to understand.
LinktoDM gives you three ways to build, depending on how much control you want. You see all of them the moment you click New automation:
- Comment to DM automation for people who want it simple. Pick a post, set a keyword, write the DM, done. It is as quick as a keyword trigger, and you can still add a public comment reply, a wait, and an ask to follow step without touching the flow builder.
- Flow Builder for advanced users. A visual, node-based canvas where you chain steps: comment reply, delay, ask to follow, the DM itself, data collection, payments, and conditional follow ups based on what the person did. You can build a two step automation in a minute or a ten step funnel with branches.
- AI assisted Flow Builder for advanced users who want to skip the drawing. Describe what you want in plain language and the AI drafts the flow for you to edit and publish.
Neither approach is "better". Keyword triggers are quicker. Flows are more flexible. LinktoDM tries to give you both, and you can start simple and move to the flow builder later without rebuilding anything.

Who should choose LinktoDM
LinktoDM is the better fit if you care about one or more of these:
- Human-like sending. You want delays between steps, DM text that rotates through AI generated variations instead of sending the same message to everyone, and AI replies to comments that read like a person wrote them. This is the single biggest reason creators switch to us.
- Room to grow. Beginners get a simple Comment to DM automation that takes a minute to set up. Advanced users get the Flow Builder, where you can ask people to follow before delivering a link, send a conditional follow up 24 hours later to anyone who did not click, collect an email or a phone number inside the DM, or branch based on what someone replied. And if you would rather describe the flow than draw it, the AI assisted Flow Builder drafts it for you. You never outgrow the tool.
- Payments and integrations. You sell something and want to collect payment inside the conversation, or you want to push leads into your own stack through the API.
- Safety as a feature, not a footnote. Every flow can be checked against Meta's policies before it goes live, and the send queue automatically throttles to stay under Instagram's thresholds. Our block rate in Meta Partner Center is 0.0%. We are proud of that number and we work to keep it there.

Who should choose LinkDM
We would rather you pick the right tool than pick us. LinkDM is a reasonable choice if:
- You want basic keyword automation and 25,000 DMs a month is plenty. If your workflow is "someone comments the keyword, they get the link", LinkDM's universal triggers do that with very little setup.
- You run Instagram Lives and want automation during them. LinkDM offers Live automation on its Pro plan. LinktoDM does not currently offer this.
- You use Kit or Flodesk and want a direct built-in connection rather than going through an API.

Both tools are legitimate. Both are verified by Meta. Both have free plans that do not ask for a credit card.
So do the obvious thing: try both. Connect a test account to each one, build the same comment to DM automation in both, and see which workflow feels natural. It takes about twenty minutes and it will tell you more than any comparison page, including this one.
